Landscape Committee Update
The landscape committee would like to send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of the community who participated in the silent auction as contributors, solicitors, or buyers. It is hard to believe we raised nearly $2000. We promise that in return our community will be a more beautiful and desirable place to live. Look for upcoming improvements to the entry landscape off Wilderness Oak. We plan to develop and install colorful beds at the end-cap points of the islands. The crepe myrtles placed 6 weeks ago in the Walder Trail islands are thriving in this new environment and have added much needed color and texture to the once bland islands. We have interrogated the on site sprinkler systems and they are now irrigating our property at needed intervals. A maintenance calendar is being developed to ensure timely fertilization, weeding, trimming and clean-up of our landscape. If you have suggestions you would like to share, please email them to smithstx@satx.rr.com . Thanks again, and have a great day!!

Social Committee Update
We had thirty
families attend the Overlook Homeowners Association annual pool party on August
18th. It was a great time. Thanks to all the members of the Social Committee who
helped set-up, serve food and clean-up afterwards. Namely; Colleen Douglas, Mary
Jenkins, Georg'a Walsh, Samantha Kennedy and Nancy Lowrance. We owe a really big
thank you to Paula and Andy Andres who answered our ads for help with the party
with getting supplies and being an extra pair of hands at the party. That was awesome.
(We did put them to work! Thank you!) Also thank you to Dave and Lori Tomkewitz
for transporting the tables Sheryl Nelson lent us for the party and to the
Hughes and Pistorio families for helping us remove some of the garbage from the
pool facility. It takes a lot of hands to pull off a party for thirty families
and we greatly appreciate your efforts. Thanks to all the kind thanks and
comments from attendees at the party.
Our first Bunko game of the season will be Wednesday, Sept. 18th. It will be held at Marcia Hughes’ house at 611 Walder Trail at 7 pm. The ladies have missed Bunko over the summer and I already have eight reservations. So please call Nancy Townsend at 481-7421 to reserve a spot. We will be meeting two or three of our newest neighbors! Once again, we all contribute $5 for the prize money.
The Social Committee is planning a Halloween hot dog party before Trick or Treating and a Progressive Dinner on both Walder Trail and Texas Point for the winter holidays. Details will follow in future newsletters.
