Board Update

The new Overlook HOA Board of Directors met on October 26, 2002, at the Kennedy home.  The following appointments and terms were decided upon:  David Kennedy will be the president and serve a three year term, Dewayne Nelson will be the vice-president and serve a one year term, and Georg'a Walsh will be the treasurer and serve a two year term.

The board discussed unfinished business with Jerbo, and decided that Tom Galvin and David Kennedy would meet with Jim O'Brien as proposed by the previous board.  Mr. Galvin and Dr. Kennedy met with Mr. O'Brien on October 30th and were able to secure a promise from Jerbo to curb the Texas Point islands, repair the existing exit gate track, or aid in replacing the entire gate system, and to solidify contracts for the use of the recreation facility.

Dewayne Nelson will be setting a meeting with Morgan Matson of Ball & Weed soon to discuss the investigation of, and filing a lawsuit against, ProComm for unlawful appropriation of funds from the Overlook accounts, among other infractions.

Several ARC requests were reviewed and approved, and legal action concerning residents in violation of covenants were discussed.

With the help of the social committee, the board is looking into paid advertisements on the website to generate funds for the social enjoyment of the neighborhood.

The board discussed options for future endeavors to raise funds for the landscaping committee.  They also approved, for the first time in Overlook history, an annual budget of $2500 for community landscape improvement.  In an effort to save several hundred dollars, the board will organize a "Clean-Up-The-Walder-Trail-Medians Day" to rid them of the oversized mulch that is impeding further improvements.

It was decided that there needs to be a rapid and centralized reporting of criminal activity in the Overlook.  To this end, a new email address will be added (security@overlookhoa.org) to which we will ask all such activities be reported ASAP.  This will aid us in identifying threats and problem areas quickly.

Due to the success of the last two community garage sales, the board, via the social committee, will support regular biannual community garage sales.

The board reviewed the Yard of the Month program, welcome baskets, the annual Pool Party, and the annual Halloween party for the children, and  unanimously decided that these programs are a valuable and necessary component of the community.

Because we all know how difficult it is to clear and maintain an acre or more of property, the board has decided to organize annual brush pick-up days with the City of San Antonio.  These are provided free of charge to the Overlook.

The next board meeting will be held near the end of November, prior to the Thanksgiving holidays.
