Wurstfest to Begin November 1st
The ever popular celebration of German food and heritage known as Wurstfest is set to run November 1st through November 10th. The ten day festival, located on the Wurstfest Grounds in Landa Park, New Braunfels, is full of fun, food, and entertainment for all ages. The admission price is $8; children 12 and under are admitted at no charge. Wurstfest opens on weekdays at 5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 11am. Wurstfest closes at 12 Midnight on Thursday and Fridays, 11pm Sunday through Wednesday, 1am on Saturdays and at 10pm on the last Sunday. 2002 Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony
San Antonio's signature event, presented by the Paseo del Rio Association, will take place Friday, November 29th at 7:00 pm. Mayor Ed Garza will "pull the switch" at 7:02pm, lighting the riverwalk with thousands of twinkling holiday lights. An hour long parade will then commence, featuring decorated floats, musicians, and celebrities. Over 150,000 people are expected to attend. KRRT/WB 35 will broadcast the event from the Arneson Theatre. Ticket prices are $12, $15, and $18, and can only be purchased through the Paseo del Rio Association. Time to Get Out and Vote
Notice all those political advertisements on television and radio lately? Well, they are almost at an end, as election time is upon us. Early voting ran from October 19th through November 1st. Approximately 112,000 people participated in the early voting process. November 5th marks the date for Joint General and Special Elections. The Overlook is located in precinct number 3042; polling location is the Knight's Cross Recreation Center, at 1000 Knight's Cross. Please make your voice be heard and vote. 2002 NEISD Bond Referendum
Early voting for the NEISD Bond Referendum beings November 27th, and will run through December 10th. Election day is December 14th. The ballot will be comprised of four propositions:
Proposition 1 $230 million: Construction of 5 New Elementary Schools, Construction of 2 New Middle Schools, Land for 1 Elementary Site, Classroom Additions at 4 Elementary Schools, Clinic Renovations at 9 Schools, Kitchen Renovation at 1 School, Elementary Playground Improvements, Locker Replacement at 8 Middle Schools, An Additional Science Lab at each of 3 Middle Schools, Reimburse District M&O Fund
Proposition 2 $320 million: Reconstruction and Upgrade of 4 High Schools (Churchill, Lee, Madison, Roosevelt), Upgrade of 2 High Schools (MacArthur, Reagan)
Proposition 3 $30 million: Technology Upgrades for Flexibility/Modernization
Proposition 4 $95 million: Construction of 7th High School and a District-wide Athletic Facility

Junior League to Hold Annual Rummage Sale
The San Antonio Junior League will hold its annual rummage sale November 7th through November 10th. The rummage sale provides bargain-priced shopping and fun, and all proceeds go toward community projects, such as SA Botanical Center, SA Works, Sunshine Singers, Met Opera, Project Better Future, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, St. Peter’s / St. Joseph’s, & Provisional Works. The sale is held at the Freeman Coliseum, located at 3201 East Houston Street. Thursday, November 7th, will begin with a Kick-Off Party from 6-10:30pm. Admission is $40.00; the party begins with food, drinks and Silent Auction. Also scheduled is a Celebrity Scavenger Hunt, Live Auction and preferred shopping in all departments for general sales. Over twenty local restaurants will be participating in the evening. Friday, November 8th, from 5-9pm, the general public may shop at the preview sale, for a $6 admission fee.
