Spring Brush Pick-Up Scheduled

The Spring brush pick-up has been scheduled for Saturday,  March 29th.  Exact time and location of the dumpster will be included in next month's newsletter.  Remember, Waste Management will take anything that you want to get rid of:  brush, couches, small children....well, there may be some exceptions!  Just keep that date in mind when doing your spring cleanout of your flowerbeds, gardens, and property!

Home Safety Inspections Offered by SAFFE Officer

Officer Andrew Camplen, the SAFFE Officer assigned to The Overlook, is offering free home security inspections which  will not only make our homes more crime resistant but can also save residents 5% on  home owners insurance for the next three years.  Officer Camplen can be reached at pager 603-8642, or by email acamplen@sanantonio.gov  to schedule a date and time for the inspection.

Courtesy Counts

Parents, out of courtesy to our neighbors, please take a moment to remind children walking home after school to use the main street and to refrain from cutting through homeowners' property.  Thank you.

Curbs in Place on Texas Point

Thanks to Mr. Jim O'Brien and Jerbo, the Texas Point islands are now curbed in a style matching those on Walder Trail.  Be sure to run down and check them out!

Neighbors Stop Potential Disaster

Thursday, January 2nd, new Walder Trail homeowner Stacey Getman was alerted by the family dog  that something was wrong.  As Mrs. Getman went outside to see to the dog, she noticed a brush fire at the back of her property.

911 was called;  neighbors rushed to help with water hoses, fire extinguishers,  and shovels.  The fire was extinguished by brave community members, such as Tom and Mallory Heffron, Mark Pistorio, Brian and Stacey Getman, and Lindsay Stonestreet.  The fire department response time was less than five minutes; upon arrival, the firefighters continued to wet down the area to prevent any further problems.

Apparently, the fire started as a result of unsupervised children playing with firecrackers.  Luckily, no one was injured in the fire, and a minimum of property was damaged.

This is a great opportunity to once again warn our children about the dangers of fireworks without the proper adult supervision.  Luckily, a potential tragedy was averted; next time our Overlook family might not be so lucky.
